Dare to be stupid, cringe, silly, ridiculous, and genuine.

I know it’s scary, but I believe in you, and so does this guy.

Roy Williams wrote: “great dialogue is one of the highest forms of writing, and one of the toughest. You’re aiming for a tightrope walk; it feels real, but is crafted for effect.”

When I was 14 years old in a writing class at the wizard academy, Roy told me “you are a natural dialogue writer”

Who I Can Help:

I have been telling delightfully moving stories for years. If you’ve got big dreams but are too small for Roy, I would love to tell your story.

Who Is Not a Good Fit:

The vision for your business is clear, you have collected all the websites, ads, and promos done in your industry and boy, you’d love something that looked just like that…

Those are your competitors. You are going to look exactly like your competitors.

If you can’t let that vision go, you are afraid to stand out. And you are not a good fit.

Why isn’t this a good fit? My work is for people who are brave.

What I Do For Clients:

Every business owner makes a crucial mistake when telling their story. They think the business is interesting, but they are not.

Every business owner wants to talk about the features and benefits. What they can offer the client, or how they achieve such impeccable service. But let’s face it, features and benefits don’t make for an interesting story.

Businesses are boring, people are interesting.

Believe it or not, the story behind your business is you. You breathed life into this idea, watched it grow legs, and are ready to teach this thing how to run. Why did you do it? Why did you sacrifice so much time, money, and self into this idea? Now that’s the start of a good story.

Still not convinced? I want to tell you about my friend Spiderman.

Spiderman’s features and benefits are boring. Teen gets bit by a spider and decides to run around New York playing hero. Sure, that’s how he became a superhero, and it’s incredible and all, but that’s not where the quote comes from.

Spiderman’s origin story is what moves the audience. His ‘why’. Why does he fight for good against evil, why does he take all the misfortune dealt to him? Why oh why does he take photos of himself spider-suited up for his own boss to ridicule every morning at 7am sharp? You know the answer, it’s in every version of spider man there is. Peter Parker’s origin story is Uncle Ben’s death. The features and benefits are his powers. But the story? Well, with great power comes great responsibility.

I am not here to help you sell your features and benefits. You’ve been doing that fine on your own. I am here to help you find your origin story. To tell your ‘why’.

Excited for what we’ll find? Me too.
